In 2021, Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo ("MITE" or the "Expo") garnered accreditation from the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) as an "UFI Approved International Event". The recognition reveals to the world the event's international influence, professionalism and positive impact on fostering interchange across the global tourism industry.
The 14th Five-Year Tourism Development Plan clearly advocates Macao organizing MITE. Reaching its ten-year milestone in 2022, the Expo will keep offering new elements and advancing concerted development between tourism and various industries for stronger synergy across "tourism +". Ultimately, the event contributes to enriching Macao's vibrant offer as a world centre of tourism and leisure and powering adequate diversification of the economy.
The Expo is once again unveiled on a hybrid online and offline format this year, connecting industry delegates from worldwide for corporate collaboration and exchange in pursuit of new progress forward. Tapping into a broad horizon of opportunities for tourism cooperation with Hengqin and in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area while delivering Macao's impact as a platform, MITE strives to create new business opportunities for the travel and related trade across "tourism +", and widen the variety of promotional and marketing channels for tourism products, bringing together a concerted effort to expand the range of visitors and boost tourism recovery.
We sincerely invite you to join us in this annual international tourism event of our city. We hope you can embrace this valuable opportunity for exchange and cooperation as well as an informative update about the tourism industry around the world, as we join hands in invigorating the tourism industry and sharing the fruitful harvest!
The Expo is accomplishing a decade-long success this year. I wish to convey my sincerest appreciation to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China for the long-standing and great support as MITE's supporting entity.
